Sue Robins is a Vancouver-based author, speaker + health care advocate. Her lived experience includes caregiving, as her youngest son has Down syndrome. She gained the patient perspective with a breast cancer diagnosis in 2017,  Sue’s first book, Bird’s Eye View is about the patient experience. Her Ducks in a Row book is about reimagining health care through compassion, storytelling and partnering with patients.  Sue has held family leadership positions with the B.C. Children’s Hospital and the Stollery Children’s Hospital. Sue is a member of Canadian Medical Association’s Patient Voice. In her day job, she is the senior partner with Bird Comm, a creative health communications company.

Todd Anderson is Professor of English and Writing at Prairie College in Three Hills, Alberta.  His academic interests include Renaissance poetry, literary wit, readerly attention, and the effects of media and AI on writing composition.  Todd enjoys exploring with his family, playing guitar (a huge Hip fan), and writing poetry, children’s fairy tales, and speculative fiction.  He lives with his wife and six kids in Three Hills.

Dr. Arno Kumagai is Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is an endocrinologist at Women’s College Hospital and specializes in working with individuals with type 1 diabetes.  Dr. Kumagai received his BA in Comparative Literature from U.C. Berkeley and his MD from UCLA.  He completed postgraduate training in the UCLA system and was on faculty at the University of Michigan Medical School from 1996 to 2016.  Dr. Kumagai joined the University of Toronto’s Department of Medicine in 2016.  His scholarly interests focus on humanism in medical education, transformative learning, dialogue, and teaching for equity and social justice.
